AI keeps guessing your design. These 7 MCP servers make it stop

Ask an AI to match a design and it invents spacing, colors and motion. These seven MCP servers hand it the real specs, tokens and live pages instead.

MCP servers for designers

Show an AI a screenshot and ask it to “make it look like this.” It will give you something that looks close for about four seconds, right until you notice the padding is wrong, the font is a guess, and the hover state was never there.

That isn’t a talent problem. It’s an information problem. A screenshot throws away the tokens, the type scale, the easing, the states. MCP servers put that information back by letting the AI read the real source of truth instead of squinting at pixels.

This is the design-focused counterpart to our earlier designer list, aimed at one question: where does the AI get the real spec?

Disclosure, up front: we build Enrichr, so it appears on this list. We’ve tried to say exactly why, and to be straight about where the others are the better tool.

In this list
  1. *Enrichr, for specs that only exist in a browser
  2. Figma
  3. Canva
  4. Playwright
  5. Chrome DevTools
  6. Context7
  7. A docs tool (Notion, Confluence)

01 Enrichr, for specs that only exist in a browserour pick

When the reference is a live site, there is no design file. The spec is the computed CSS, the animation timeline, the shader, the font files. Enrichr pulls those from a real render: extract_design_system for tokens, colors, type scale and spacing, reverse_engineer_animations for exact GSAP or CSS timings, reverse_engineer_webgl for shaders. It’s how you stop describing a hero and start reading it.

02 Figma

When the source of truth is a design file, Figma’s MCP server lets the AI read frames, components and variables directly, so “implement this frame” uses your real values and not a guess from an export.

03 Canva

For marketing assets and social graphics, the Canva connector puts your brand kit and templates within the AI’s reach. Less pixel-precise engineering, more “make a set of on-brand posts.”

04 Playwright

Design is behavior too. Playwright lets the AI drive the page: hover, focus, resize, tab through. It’s the connector that catches the state your static mockup never showed.

05 Chrome DevTools

Google’s DevTools MCP exposes performance traces, network requests and console output. When a beautiful animation drops frames, this is how the AI finds out why.

06 Context7

Design systems live on top of libraries that change fast. Feeding the AI current docs means it uses the component API that exists today, not last year’s.

07 A docs tool (Notion, Confluence)

Brand guidelines and the rationale behind a design usually sit in a doc, not in the file. Connect the doc and “make it more on-brand” stops being an empty instruction.

The mental model: a design file tells you what was intended, a live render tells you what shipped. Good design work needs both, and the AI needs access to both. If you only connect one, connect the one that matches the source of truth for the task in front of you.
