ChatGPT can use MCP now. Here are the 8 connectors worth setting up

ChatGPT can talk to remote MCP servers, and most people never turn it on. Here’s what that unlocks, how it differs from Claude, and the eight servers we’d try first.

The ChatGPT MCP shortlist

MCP isn’t a Claude-only club anymore. ChatGPT can connect to MCP servers too, and it changes what the chat box can do: from answering questions about the web to actually reading a page, checking a repo or pulling your data.

There’s one important difference from Claude’s desktop and Claude Code setups. ChatGPT connects to remote servers, meaning a URL, not a program running on your laptop. That rules out some popular local-only servers and makes hosted ones the sweet spot. Availability and setup steps depend on your plan and OpenAI’s current settings, so check their docs for the exact toggle before you start.

Here’s what we’d connect first, favouring servers you can reach over a URL.

Disclosure, up front: we build Enrichr, so it appears on this list. We’ve tried to say exactly why, and to be straight about where the others are the better tool.

In this list
  1. *Enrichr for ChatGPT
  2. GitHub
  3. Notion
  4. Linear
  5. Stripe
  6. Cloudflare
  7. Zapier
  8. Hugging Face

01 Enrichr for ChatGPTour pick

We run a dedicated ChatGPT endpoint at chatgpt.enrichr.dev. It renders pages in a real browser and returns the DOM, computed CSS, animations and WebGL, the things ChatGPT’s built-in browsing can’t see because they only exist after JavaScript runs. Ask it to pull a design system, rebuild a hero or explain how a page is built.

02 GitHub

Read repos, issues and pull requests from the chat. Great for “summarize what changed in this PR” or “where is this function used” without leaving the conversation.

03 Notion

Search and read your workspace so answers come from your own notes and specs, not from the model’s memory of the internet.

04 Linear

Turn a chat into tickets, or ask what’s blocked this sprint. Project tools are one of the best-fitting categories for a conversational interface.

05 Stripe

Look up customers, payments and subscriptions in plain language. It’s a fast way to answer “did this customer get charged?” without opening the dashboard. Use restricted keys and read-only access until you trust your setup.

06 Cloudflare

Manage and inspect Workers, DNS and storage by asking. Handy for developers who live in the terminal and want a second pair of eyes on their config.

07 Zapier

The wide-net connector: one server that reaches thousands of apps. It’s the quickest way to try “when this happens, do that” from a chat, though the breadth means you should review what you’re authorizing.

08 Hugging Face

Search models, datasets and Spaces from the conversation. If you work with ML, it beats tabbing to the Hub every time you need a model name.

Start read-only. The fastest way to regret an AI connector is to give it write access on day one. Connect it, watch what it does with read-only permissions, then widen the scope. This applies to Claude just as much as ChatGPT. Here’s our Claude shortlist for comparison.
